Print yatra, an initiative of the South India Printers Association (SIPA) was held from 12-14 June 2015. This second edition was organised by SIPA, headed by president AMSG Ashokan along with Salem Offset Printers Association’s (SOPA) president, Karmeham.
The team travelled 1,700km and visited 24 print associations. In total, the team has reached to more than 2,000 printers through its first ands second Print Yatra.
Ashokan said, “Presidents and secretaries of all print associations have welcomed and appreciated this effort taken by SIPA for the benefits of printers from the south.”
The idea behind the Print Yatra was to reach out for rural printers who are not connected with any major association in national and state level. “To pass on accurate information directly to such printers and taking corrective measures on problems faced by them is our main agenda,” said, Ashokan.
Together, teams of SIPA and SOPA jointly visited printers and association from around 25 cities from Vellore to Tiruvannnamalai to Hosur, Salem and finally Trichengode.
Additionally, an executive committee meet was held on 14 June, 2015. At the meeting, the third edition of Print Yatra was discussed, which will be hosted by Kerala Master Printers Association.
Ashokan informed that, “Pondicherry Offset Printers Association has shown interest to host fourth meet of SIPA which will be tentatively held in the end of the October or first week of November 2015.”
SIPA now has 40 affiliates in its fold and has reached nearly 6000 printers of south India.
